My Yoga

Hello to all yogis!.

I am a full time yoga teacher, based in Nottingham. I teach throughout Nottinghamshire in a variety of settings, large classes, small groups and one to one tuition.

Having initially trained as an Integral Yoga Teacher after studying yoga for around 10, years, I then went on to take the British Wheel of Yoga Diploma. I have completed training with Yoga Bugs and the Special Yoga Centre and am qualified to teach yoga to children and students with special needs.

I hold an ITEC Diploma in Anatomy and Physiology and a current First Aid Certificate.

My development is ongoing as I continue on this wonderful path of learning.

I have studied with several renowned teachers, Dharma Mittra, Tias Little, Max Strom, Paul Grilley and Sarah Powers. I recently completed the BWY Ayurveda module with Cathy-Mae Karelse and hope to continue this study further.

I have a deep love of yoga which I hope to share through my teaching.

The focus of my yoga teaching is working with each individual to help the student realise and enjoy their 'being' and potential through their yoga practice. I believe that everyone can enjoy and benefit from yoga, regardless of age, ability, flexibility or health. I currently teach students aged between 3 years and 78 years!

I have worked with many wonderful teachers during my years of practice. This has lead me to teach an eclectic and creative yoga. I am grounded in classical Integral Hatha yoga and fuse this with vinyasa flow, Yin practice and inspiration from Anusara.

I change my practice in accordance with the seasons as I am also interested in how the teachings of ayurveda can support our yoga.

I am interested in guiding students towards learning more about themselves through their yoga practice. Practicing mindfully and with full awareness gives us a wonderful opportunity to grow and enjoy life. In my classes I combine asana practice for all levels with pranayama (breath work), mantra and mudra yoga to provide a strong and rounded teaching. It is usually possible to offer alternatives so that everyone can access the class at their particular level of practice.

Throughout my life I have worked with people, both as a nurse, in various areas of health and social care and now as a yoga teacher. I try always to get to know my students, understand their needs and bring a sense of humour and element of fun into my classes.
